The debate in choosing between streaming services and traditional TV is still ongoing yet the answer has always been clear. It will always depend on your needs and your viewing preferences. But for someone who has owned both and switched to streaming services, I have some key points that I’d like to highlight that may help you decide to make the switch. But of course, you still have to assess if it applies to your current situation or not.
For many, they think that needing to have a fast internet connection at home like fiber internet, for example, is a big disadvantage. But nowadays, most people already have an internet connection at home. As the saying goes, the internet is now a necessity. That said, I’ll share the reasons why I think choosing streaming services over traditional TV is very much worth it.
1. Streaming services are significantly cheaper than traditional cable TV.
Most streaming services cost around $8 to $15 per month while traditional TV costs around $50 to $100 or more. You can save a lot, literally lotsssss of money if you switch to streaming services. Of course, I’d lie if I said you’ll get more content because cable and satellite TV usually come with tons of channels and on-demand content, hence the price. However, if you don’t need that much content, you don’t really need to pay for the entire package you don’t even use.
2. You don’t have to worry about long-term contracts.
Streaming services do not require you to be locked into a 12-month or 24-month contract. You can pay on a monthly or a yearly basis. If you want to stop or pause your service to try another service, you can freely do so without worrying about early termination fees or penalties.
It’s a good way to save money while having the entertainment you need. The only additional expense you will have to pay is your internet. But if you already have an internet connection at home, you don’t have to worry about it anymore. However, if you don’t have one yet, it’s best to look into the different deals like Boost Infinite deals to find the best one that suits your needs.
3. Streaming services can be used on different devices.
If you want to watch content on different devices, streaming services can make that happen. Most streaming services, both on-demand and live TV, can usually be watched on mobile, tablet, and laptop. If it doesn’t have an app, it generally has a dedicated site where you can watch it. That’s why even though you’re on your way to work or during your breaktime, you can watch a few episodes. You don’t have to wait to go home to watch your favorite content.
One caveat, however, is that you need to have a fast internet connection wherever you go. But if your office has free WiFi, you’re lucky. Regardless if it’s fiber or satellite internet, as long as it has enough speed, you’ll be able to stream your favorite TV shows.
Wrapping Up
Switching to streaming services from traditional TV is a big decision, especially if you’ve used cable or satellite TV all your life. That’s why you must consider all the aspects first before deciding. I hope my thoughts and experience can help you find the right entertainment option for you. Good luck!
